More of the same...

I wish I had some funny stories to or something. Instead I ride, eat and sleep. I guess I'll keep talking about that a little. Most bloggers name their blogs based on what they are going to talk about. I have gotten off the beaten path. More talk about kitties soon, and some sweet picture updates too.

This weekend we went down to Council Bluff to do some camping and get some miles in. Before I was trying to get Kyle to come down and party and he said something about not remembering the last time he drank 10 beers. Neither could I.

Since Jen was too afraid to bring the gallon of sangria I drank some beers. We grilled some great steaks, some corn on the cob and washed it down with some smores. Just as I was getting my swerve on Anne, Rex and Jen called it quits. What can I say, they are all old. 7 beers deep. Unless I want to be the lone soldier around the campfire trying to accomplish my goal I fall short of it. Weak sauce.

Sun morning came and I was feeling pretty good. We all rode one lap together and then split up to do some training. My next 3 laps were 1:12, 1:09 and the last one would have been my fastest by far but I caught Jen just after the beach and she was upset that I lapped her and gushing blood from her knee so we finished off the lap together, I think for me it was 1:10 or so. Jen ended up with 3 laps and was happy with how she was feeling on the MTB which is a huge improvement.

Wednesday I set off at noon up the Riverfront Trail for a nice cool 95*+ ride. I wanted to belt out a 5 hr solo flat century. I was doing pretty well but my nutrition in the heat has been a problem lately and I fell into the K-hole for awhile at the half way mark. I came out of it and finished strong but ended up with a 19.7 mph avg instead of 20. I was riding my new Seven Axiom Ti bike with a pair of Mavic R-SYS demo wheels which are pretty light but not aero at all. I put a pair of Roval Fusee Stars on to try and they are way faster on the flats. Should have had them on Wednesday to seal the deal.

I'm going into the MWFT Marathon race this weekend overly tired and then it's all about pulling in the reigns and focusing on rest and preparation for the Rapture in Misery 12 hour on Aug 18. I'm going to try to find one more 12 hr in Sept and then BURNING AT THE BLUFF 07!!

Listen to the Dead.

Were your lap times going into the campgroung? Sound like your riding like an animal! I should be at RIM on a 3 person team with Bob and Wes for a little more fun of a race. Good luck.

12 hours of Canal Loop @ LBL 9/22. I should be back in the Midwest by then, but plan to do the Ste. Gen. RR & Crit instead.
