Big Red

Big Red

The good ole' days are over. For the first time since 92' when Phish opened up for Santana, Big Red took the stage while the sun was still shining to play to a half attentive audience. You could easily tell who showed up to see Trey play- because they were swaying and twirling like trees in the desert on the lawn at UMB.

I started seeing Phish in 95. The first year they started to sell out the "big venues." The year before I had seen Jerry make the walls sweat at the old Boston Garden, ironically that same year I started smoking lots of ganj. I never saw Jerry play his guitar again but I did manage to see Phish play in Mass, Maine, New York, Florida, Las Vegas, North Carolina, Ohio, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and the last show ever in Vermont.

So on the eve of the big money race I consumed the equivalent of $7 brewskeez that the winner in the Pro race would walk away with. Ironically, I had a couple margaritas with the winner last night. I also did myself a favor and stopped into Bass Pro Shops on Sunday. Lemme tell you, if you're bored and want to see some comedy, head up to good ole' bass pro shops on the weekend. On the way out I smelled some fried dough and set myself up with some funnel cake, a brat and a coke before going up to Winghaven. That made me feel much better.I was in no shape to be racing and opted to stand in the sun for 5 hrs complaining about how bad I felt.

Oh well. Time to get back to training. I actually found myself getting exited to get up and ride today, a welcome change. Back on track.

Wow, what was I just talking about? Ohh, Tom Petty rocked. It was a fantastic show. Even if my boy wasn't capable of unleashing his Jedi skills like he was in this picture.

I'll have what he's having.

funnel cakes are deadly. but combine that with a brat and a coke, and you got yourself the three basic food groups, if you ask me!

p.s. check out Casey's blog and read about his big win!! if that doesn't inspire you to get back out there and kick some arse, nothing will...

I saw Phish in Vail in 1993. Can't say I remember much, though.
