Wow. This was such a weird weekend for me. I'm still not really sure how I feel about it but when I look at it on paper it was pretty good.
The Mesa 3 squad went pretty big;
richard B 2, Andy Burgess 4 at Carondolet
El Guero 3 in the TT
Andy Burgess 3, Furry Black Cat 5 and a Mike "big money Prime" Flanagan at Forest Park
and Andy Burgess 3rd overall
The Godfather was telling me to "do my best and take it easy in the turns" for the TT and to "try to hang in there" on Sun. He knows much better than I do.
I showed up to the TT after work and they handed me a number, I had 18 mins to get dressed and warm up. Not good. I was off the side of the road within 1 minute. I managed to get moving again and really pushed it. My legs were screaming going from cold to a 120% effort. 3 rd place? Is that good? How much time did I waste in the ditch. Damn.
The crit on Sun was even more bizarre for me. The first 40 mins of the race I was in the back. I could hear my buddy Bill Howard yelling "Go Brez" every lap from the grill as well as Adrienne and Russ to "hang in there." I couldn't find the front for the life of me. I was in some serious pain. My quads were locked up from two straight weeks of hill repeats and uphill sprints. Two weeks without any rest trying to get my body ready for some real racing yet still I was dumb enough to be asking myself why I was hurting so bad? The Godfather was right "try to stay in there." Towards the end of the race I told Andy Burgess to mark the sandbagger dressed up like a cow in disguise. With 3 laps to go I found myself on his wheel? I had found the front?
2cd to last corner I was still there, I watched the move happen- 3rd wheel, wide on the corner, sit halfway up the false flat, go like hell. I had told Andy the night before at Nacho Mamas this was the move, I was even on the guys wheel that I told the others to mark, it was perfect. The legs were not. I was in slow motion. It happened and I watched, just like I said it would. Damn.
The funny thing was I spent most of the day beating myself up about it. Go off course in the TT and still get 3rd. Miss the move in the final 250 meters and still get 5th and have your team bring home some serious bacon? I guess I've been feeling that good lately. No matter what the circumstances are I hate losing.
If Richard had eaten more breakfast on Sat morning this finish would have been different. This kid doesn't eat. I'm working on this young grasshopper slowly. Nice job though!
Nice job to Nick and Rusty too. 1 st and 2 cd overall. Too bad I couldn't have raced Sat morning :)
Now it's time for some serious rest. 12 days to go.
"Don't stop till you get enough!"

LOL The Cow disguished as a 3. Doesn't that make upgrade point 1000 for for Mr. H, a new USCF low? Sounds like your going good for Joey M. Shame I'm going to miss it. Good luck & Stay healthy till then.
YEP, that guy is a total fucking sandbagger. it's really pathetic. i had a couple words with him, then i realized how frickin huge he is. he must really need the money or something, otherwise he's a total pussy. now for how i really feel about him ..... :)
He's the tiny one on Cow Town. Have you seen the guy who can't zip his jersey closed? That guy is like 4 of me.
