This is what Willbanks looks like sprinting

I am a mini-Russ in training.

I do have to fight the power though...Russell the Muscle hooked me up with a PowerTap and I'm addicted to it. (Hopefully something cooler comes along in the next couple weeks so I can gank his brand new Dura-Ace SRM.) It's hard not to want to test myself with this mack-daddy training tool. Ignorance is bliss and I was one dumb little sherpa to think that pro's just had them on their bikes to look cool. Doing interval work with power is like driving at night with the lights on.

Using it at Froze Toes gave me some kind of crazy back of the head confidence as me and my new teammates controlled the race. Chasing down breaks was no a matter of monitoring my efforts and when I was in a break with Doug Davis I could easily see how much I could push each pull and still recover ok.

There was one big problem with my power reading from this race- with 200 m to go and that pony-tailed hippie freak camped out on my wheel yelling for me to go, whatever type of tricked out geek computer he had on his bike was recording much higher power than mine! Too bad he wasn't racing for Mesa, then it would have been a perfect leadout!

Nice job Willbanks!
